PRODUCT CARRIED: Bulk Stenter Textile Machine
IMPORT TO: Lancashire, UK
EXPORTING FROM: Prato 59, Italy)
TRANSPORT USED: Mega Trailer, via Ferry
TYPE OF SERVICE: Full load with stretching belts and ratchet straps
Our client owns a textiles and fabrics manufacturing company and had purchased a large format Stenter Machine based in Prato, Italy. They needed the Stenter Machine to be shipped from the seller in Italy to their manufacturing plant in Blackburn, England within a short period of time.
Before contacting 1st European, the goods were being shipped to Poland via train (Intermodal transport), which means it can take nearly 3 weeks to reach their destination.
Our client wanted to transport the goods much quicker and needed a provider that could support the full logistical process. Using First European road services, we can reduce this lead time to just 4 days from collection to delivery via road.
As a large format machine, measuring 2.8m in height, 6 metres in length and 20 tonnes, we had to deploy a Mega Trailer for the transportation. We also ensured the machine could be lifted by crane and loaded onto the trailer through the trailer roof. All additional accessories and tools were hand balled [LINK} onto the trailer with care.
We supported the customer to understand which forms and documentation were required dependent on the countries the goods travel through. We plan the route dependent on the customers timed delivery needs and budget requirements
With Italy being an EU country (and subsequent route only travelling through France and England), the goods only had to be carried under a standard CMR document. This CMR document is completed by the driver at the loading point and signed by the despatching company to verify the goods leave undamaged; the despatchers keep a copy and duplicates travel with the driver. On delivery at the end destination, the goods are again checked and the CMR is signed by the receiver. First European store copies of the CMR and are available on request.
Whilst the bulk of the machine was maintained in one piece, there were many accessories and additional parts that had to travel in the trailer with the machine. Both the main body of the machine and additional parts had to be securely strapped within the trailer using stretching belts and ratchet straps to secure in place and protect the equipment during transportation.
The Mega Trailer collected from Prato, Italy 59 and travelled north, through France to Calais and shipped to Dover. The full journey including secure loading, transportation, delivery and unload from Italy to Blackburn was complete within 3 days.
The goods were tracked via GPS so that we could monitor the progress and keep the customer updated. This allowed the customer to make suitable arrangements for unloading in Blackburn, Lancashire.
