WHAT IS THE CUSTOMER DOING WITH THE CARGO?
Our client manufactures foods flavouring for export to Scandanavia and France. The goods are collected within the UK upto 4 times a week and delivered to our clients customers, throughout Scandanavia including Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark and Northern France.
Our clients deliveries are dependent on the demand of their customers, meaning a our clients rely on us for quick turn around times and ensure deliveries are completed within strict time slots.
COLLECTING GOODS FROM 3rd PARTY WAREHOUSING
Once manufactured, the customer stores the foods in specialist temparature controlled 3rd party warehousing. Our customer then gives us 1 week notice to advise the quantity of goods that are to be collected for export and delivered to it’s destination.
First European takes responsibility to then liaise with the Warehousing company to book strict collection slots, transport the goods from collection to Sea Port, for sail to Scandanavia.
WHAT DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED AND WHAT PART DO FIRST EUROPEAN TAKE IN THIS?
As most of the Scandanavian countries (exlcuding Norway) are within the EU, the goods are carried under a standard CMR documents. This CMR document is completed by the driver at the loading point and signed by the despatching company to verify the goods leave undamaged; the despatchers keep a copy and duplicates travel with the driver. On delivery at the end destination, the goods are again checked and the CMR is signed by the receiver. First European store copies of the CMR and are available on request.
Shipments to Norway also require customs clearance, which First European arrange on presentation of the commerical invoice, supplied by the customer.
WHAT OTHER CONSIDERATIONS HAVE TO BE MADE?
As we are transporting various food types, there are specific requirements for the type of trailer used.
Clean Trailers: All trailers must be clean, dry and ordour free, meaning booking of trailers in line with Warehouse collection slots must be carefully planned.
Food Transportation: In order to preserve foods in transportation, we are also restricted by the time duration the goods can be in transit. This means route planning needs to consider both price and time to meet with the customers requirements.
Chilled Foods: Some shipments contain foods that require Chilled Boxed trailers to maintain consistent temparatures. The goods are travelling through changing climates, day/night temparatures of the UK, Holland and Scandanavia and road and sea transport holding areas; this means area Chilled units must be in 100% working order for the duration of transportation time.
